ingredients of nucynta?

posted by lucy bell on 13 Dec 2009 at 1:12 pm

I have been on this nucynta for a month and a half still cant get any print out from the pharmacy. I truly think that people who are precribed medicine should know whats in it. I have called 5 pharmacies and no one knows what the ingredients are. I find this very scary, so beware when taking this excencive medicine.

Some Information on Nucynta

posted by Joe Hoppert on 08 July 2010 at 5:05 pm

My doctor told me that Nucynta was a form of dilaudid. He did not say what percentage or what the other drug is.
I have several life threatening alergic reactions to some opiates, but now have such a severe back condition that opiates are unfortunately the only option left. I agree that not knowing is scary, but in my case trying it is the only way to find out if this new combination is the new answer that will keep me at work and functioning normally. IT MAKES YOU A HUMAN GUINI PIG.

sphincter of oddi dysfunction

posted by brenda on 05 Aug 2010 at 4:37 pm

I have been diagnosed with sphincter of oddi dysfunction and was wondering why nucyenta does not cause this condition to flare up in me. At first my doctor was prescribing a drug called opana for the pain of this condition, but it made me have severe flare ups, but when reading up on nucyenta via the internet, the information read that nucyenta can cause flare ups of SOD. Does anyone maybe suffer from SOD and also use nucyenta? If so what does it do or not do for you.

sleepiness

posted by Debbie Naylor on 19 Aug 2010 at 1:52 pm

nucynta made me extremely sleepy. I dozed off frequently, even when standing up. I dozed off while sitting in a chair, dropped and broke a glass. I didn't even know where the glass came from. My head would drop down, I was asleep in seconds, and I have no memory of the incidents at all. Scary.iwo

severe set back with my lower back/hips/spine region

posted by Russell Smothers on 27 Aug 2010 at 9:38 am

Recently I had another severe set back with my lower back/hips/spine region, that was in remission for 18 month's, which literally keeps me immobile 24/7. Having been on most chronic pain med's, including methodone for four years, this is a miracle drug for me.
Although it allows me to walk & functions as with no pain, it removes my motivation to get harder tasks accomplished, like lifting anything heavy, for fear of aggravating my condition. I would like to know what is in this little wonder pill? The Pharmacist & my VA GP Dr had never heard of it!

Chronic lower back oain w/ a morphine pain pump

posted by Sheila on 20 Oct 2010 at 10:21 am

I’m a 46 yr. old w/f with a Morphine pain pump. The pump was put n last yr. in Aug. 6 mnts. After it was done mine was already turned up to 10.5, ALL others are only turned up on 3.5.Anyway n March, of 2010, I walked out of my pain mang. Drs. office & didn’t go back, I finally found another Dr. & I have surgery n the morning, This Dr. says the cathiers is way up n the T-2 area & suppose to be at T-11, & has had me on Oxcodone, 10mg. _4 times a day for break through pain, & has turned the pump down to 7.999, The oxcdone wasn’t touching my pain, I could take 3-4 at a time, & still wasn’t helping.

So when I seen my pain Dr. yesterday & told him to change my medication, that I have seizures taken different types drugs, especially when mixed, to put me on Dilidaid, or morphine break through, & My blood pressure Normally runs 107/68-110/72..Yesterday mine was 149/126...PAIN...Causes mine to go sky high, but haven’t ever had it this high.

So he prescribes me Nucynta 50mg. I’ve NEVER EVEN HEARD of it, It tells you n big bold letters not to take it if ur allergic 2 the ingredients n it, BUT DONT SAY what's in it, So far I’ve not had any feelings of having a seizure, & It has helped my chronic pain, Although, I’m afraid of it, & very afraid of it knowing I’m going under anesthesia, in the morning. ANY SUGGESTIONS would be nice, & I don’t think I’ll take 1 n the morning be for I go either..

Thanks Sheila

First time taking this med. I've been using Fentynl 100 for 2 yrs, w/hydro's/celebrex. I've quit or refused to take many meds b/c of side effects. I also used to be so medicated I fell asleep. Just really curious as to what I put in my body.

No Changes

posted by Gene on 14 Dec 2010 at 4:58 pm

I'm in my 4th hour on this Nucynta, and still is not working for me, I have had a very bad back problem since Aug 2010, I have a very low pain tolerance, and a very high medication tolerance, before this med I was on Hydo's, tramadol, darvocet, soma, melocicam, and methocarbam, nothing is touching the pain, I go in for spinal fussion on 2 disk Jan 11th...Now I'm getting worried that if nothing is helping with pain right now, what will that mean for post surgery??

Anxiety and Nucynta?

posted by Robert on 04 Feb 2011 at 7:22 am

I was recently prescribed Nucynta for a chronic back pain condition that flares on occasion as I get severe itching with all other type opiates. This gave me no side effects and helped with the pain. I was only on it a short time and after stopping it the following day experienced extreme lethargy, mental confusion, then anxiety and feelings of depression. Would this have any relationship to the fact that I was happily in the process of tapering off of Cymbalta, quit taking Nucynta abruptly, a combination of the two, or just having an exacerbation of clinical depression of unknown etiology?

Has anyone wound up with a kidney stone from this medication?

I have been on Nucynta for 5 months for a cerival herniation with radiculopathy. I wound up in the hospital with an 11mm kidney stone in my right kidney and multiple small kidney stones in my left kidney. Has anyone wound up with kidney stones from this medication?

Nucynta Is Giving Me My Life Backl

posted by Cheri on 07 Apr 2011 at 2:10 pm

I have chronic low back pain, and radiculopathy. The doctors put a spinal cord stimulator in almost two years ago, and that has helped significantly with my leg pain, but not so much for the back pain. I was taking Oxycotin, and Percocets, with some pain relief.

When the oxy formula was changed I was getting stomach upset, and pain, so my doctor prescribed Nucynta instead. It didn't work at first, so doctor doubled my dose (from 50mg to 100mg, 6x day). I felt great, almost normal again.

After being on Nucynta for about a month I found I could reduce my daily dose to 4x day. I guess it needs to build up in your system a bit to get pain relief. I'm not near as tired as I was on the oxy, and percocets. Actually I have energy. No constipation either. I'm actually enjoying my garden this year. Nucynta is giving me my life back.

on nucynta 200 Mg Extended release twice a day

posted by John L on 16 Dec 2011 at 3:43 pm

I'm on nucynta 200 Mg Extended release twice a day. I was on 100 mg not extended release 4 times a day previously. Both are new to me over the last 3-4 months. I have back, joint pain due to spondylarthropathy. So I suffer all the time to varying degrees, at times severe.
My issue is 1. I've been calling almost every pharmacy around & no one has it (esp the ext. release) & most don't know what it is...this doesn't give me a very secure feeling about this med.
2. When I did get Ext release it doesn't seem to work as well as the regular ones.
3. Looking up on the internet they don't know the mechanism of action, how it works.. again not very secure knowing that and it has effects on serotonin, chemicals in the brain. With all these "unknowns" I do feel like an experimental Pt. How can anyone be sure that in the future they may discover this med causes some kind of long term problem in the brain or whatever.
Is this really safe? How can we be sure even though studies have been done?

Re the ? from the person w the sphincter of oddi dysfunction, I have gallbladder sludge & a dilated sphincter & have noticed abdominal pain after taking this med. I think there's a connection, again, who knows??
Unfortunately my MD likes to use new meds with the reasoning that if they are new they must be better. I am not so sure. Basically all the unknowns & finding that MD's & pharmacists that I've asked know nothing about this med makes it seem possibly NOT better even tho it's "new", Big deal, It's new. I'm just confused about it all. Tho it does help joint pain, is it better than the tried & true meds? I want something where they know how it works & doesn't mess w brain chemicals.

Anyone agree w me???
Do I just sound like a nut? I think not, but the scientists who spent $$ to make this med would prob disagree cuz they gotta make $ back they spent to produce, study & market this. I'm rambling but so what, the studies seem to ramble too. I'm at a loss as to what to do.
???????
