Cymbalta and pain relief article
posted by Sheryl Sutterfield on 15 Sept 2005 at 9:38 pmAs a FMS patient, I tried Cymbalta, and the side affects were horrible! It took me over 2 months to get over the side affects which included heart palpitations, anxiety and severe depression. I know two other fms patients who were also given this drug, and experienced the same affects. I personally wouldn't recommend Cymbalta from my own and other's experiences with it.

Cymbalta & Pain Relief

I have been taking Cymbalta for about three months for peripheral neuropathy due to cervical spine damage. It has improved my symptoms a great deal. I am taking 90 mg once a day at this time. Try it yourself before taking an opinion from a website that discourages you from using this medicine. It has reduced my need for narcotics by 99%. I am seeing my doctor today to see if he will bump it a little more to then hopefully remedy the pain I am having now. I highly recommend this medicine for pain relief.

Will health insurance companies (USA) pay for prescriptions for Cymbalta that are greater than 60 mg a day? Mine will not, even when I tell them it is for polyneuropathy. Is there a way to get them to pay for it?

I have had both depression and Fibromyalgia for more than 25 yrs. I have taken every drug available for both. Since taking Cymbalta I have been in more pain than ever. I spent 1 yr not able to get out of bed for up to 2 hrs each morning. Now I have weekly migraines which make unable to function due to muscle pain for 48 to 72 hrs. I cannot take more than 60 mg a day becaUSE OF EXTREME MUSCLE STIFFNESS AND DROWSINESS.
I waited 3 yrs for this miracle drug to be approved only to find out the truth. The drug companies will promise anything they can.
I have had more injuries caused by muscle weakness than in the previous 58 yrs. I have had no social life or desire to do anything since shortly after starting this drug.
Think carefully before sterting this drug. It was my last resort. I am not sure what I will turn to to replace it.
Cymbalta Has Been A Wonder Drug

I am a woman with a 40 year history of disabling major depressive disorder. I have been taking Cymbalta for 4 months and have achieved great relief from my depression after trying a multitude of other drugs to no avail. My only problem with the medication is paying for it now that I'm on Medicare. I don't know what I'll do if I can't afford the drug.

The Cost Of Relief from Anxitey and PTSD

I am Diabetic II, and have nerve pain. I take Cymbalta for Anxiety disorder and PTSD. I have tried other meds, ProZac, Zoloft, Paxil, just to name a few, and none have given me the relief that Cymbalta has. I had suicidal tendencies before. Now I am on 120 ml of Cymbalta a day and it is very effective where I can live my life "normally." However when paying for this med, it gets very expensive, I hardly get anything with my disability and this is the only one of my meds that is not generic. Is there any help out there paying for this drug? It costs me over $1,000 for a 3 month prescription with Kaiser, and I receive only have that amount for disability. Is there some kind of assistance? I cant live without this medication..Please help..
Breast Cancer Survivor and Nurse - Cymbalta helped me

The commercials promoting Cymbalta's potential for decreasing muscle pain became prominent (at least I noticed them more) in 2007 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I knew muscle pain with chemo therapy was a possibility and have been on an antidepressant much of my adult life.
I requested my oncologist change my Celexa to Cymbalta to see if it would aide in keeping muscle pain to a minimum. OMG!!! I fully believe the Cymbalta was what kept me from suffering horrific muscle pain. I had every side effect possible with chemo: blood clotting issues, pneumonia and my appendix had to come out but my muscle pain was minimal. AND my oncologist has added the Cymbalta now as part of their protocol when appropriate for the patient. My question is... I am still on Cymbalta.
I have since been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis as a result of chemo (and the hits just keep on coming!!!) and have been having issues with excessive sweating I now believe is associated with the Cymbalta. I don't want to stop the Cymbalta. Any suggestions I can discuss with my PCP about how to minimize or treat this? ThanX for a TERRIFIC drug!!!!
