Oppose Cloning

posted by Claude R. Sasso Ph.D. on 11 Feb 2006 at 6:13 pm

Human theraeuptic cloning is plain wrong because it destroys human life, which begins at conception. Leave to God what is God's. Adult stem cells produce cures. No cures have come from the more unstable embryonic stem cells. Don't be fooled.

You do know that cloning can save many peoples lives. It can give people a second chance. Plus it can give us an almost unlimited number of transplants.

Cloning

posted by Anonymous on 06 Jan 2007 at 4:01 pm

I understand why cloning could be misused, but it could also save hundreds of peoples lives. I know if I had an organ problem and had the choice of waiting on a list for a new liver or having a healthy one cloned and have the transplant within the month, I would definitely pick the second option.

NO WAY!!

OK. Cloning is so stupid!!! It totally takes away our individuality as a person! Plus, we already live in a over-populated world. We dont need clones.

I Believe

I believe that cloning is wrong because it is making a new child for couples even though there are many homeless children in the world who these couples could look after. Have a heart!

Cloning Sucks

posted by laura on 05 Mar 2007 at 2:29 am

Lets see- it can save people's lives because of organ transplants. But it is morally wrong. Why, you ask, is it OK to 2 of the same type of people. I'm sure the world couldn't exist with another one of me. So what makes you so special. It is way to expensive anyway

Cloning Can Help Us!

posted by Jared on 22 Mar 2007 at 2:48 pm

I beleive cloning may help the world progress in the scientific field. It may help people with unhealthy organs, if you could just clone a copy of a healthy organ, why shouldn't we? It is not like we are actually cloning extra humans, we are cloning humans for organs! If God really didn't want cloning he wouldn't give us the knowledge of figuring out how. Cloning is a GREAT IDEA!

Cloning Is Okay If There Are Boundaries

posted by anon on 22 Apr 2007 at 11:53 am

I think it is okay to clone organs and clone for infertile couples. We should use stem cell research to find cures for incurable things. We can also clone those animals that are endangered, but not clone humans. If we could clone to learn more things about animals and such.

Cloning

posted by Nisha Dugar on 12 May 2007 at 4:00 am

Cloning can no doubt help people replace important body organ's but then for using it to reproduce is a bad idea coz there are thousands of orphanage homes where little one's, no one to be called their own, live. So, it would be a better idea to adopt them rather than go for wasting money on cloning. It might in future develop a new basis on which people would be discriminated and again the same cycle with all the unwanted issues would crop up further.

Cloning

i think that cloning is good for our world in refrence to finding cures and transplants but it is rediculous to use cloning as giving to an unhappy couple unable to create one of there own concidering there are millions of orphins in this world in whom seek for loving parents and healthy homes. Dont turn that down.

God's Final Word

posted by essential pickle on 26 Sept 2007 at 9:48 am

Its not as if actual clones of living people have been made. For people who seem so opinionated you're not very well informed. Also the personality could be totally different. God has nothing to do with anything for he is a farce.

God isn't real, most who believe in him are weak minded. Hitler brainwashed millions into believing in his opinion's from an early age. Religious parents do the same. No one who believes in God can pass judgement on cloning as there is no reference in the bible. Cloning wasn't around when God was made up. Also the first testament didn't work so they made a new one. God persecutes gay's, but we stopped that years ago (not completely). Cloning is the same. People fear what they do not understand. Hell hath no fury for those who dwell in the past. (direct bible quote).

Cloning Is An Advancement In Science.

posted by Cloning Supporter on 02 Oct 2007 at 7:55 pm

I believe that cloning is correct in the minds of scientists. It could truly save the lives of dying people. Scientists have figured out a way to only clone a certain organ of a person's body. So technically, a clone would not actually be a living breathing clone of a person. Only that organ would be living persay. Also scientists clone vegetables such as carrots and cauliflower all the time. This happens if a growing season may not be so well one year. The scientists would take a few of the good carrots, and clone them thousands of times. So, if you oppose cloning, just think, you could be eating one right now.

i believe that cloning organs to save peoples lives is a GREAT idea and will no doubt help.

i would also like to say (in response to an earlier opinion) that saying God does not exist and that those who believe he does are weak minded is a rather unfair opinion. Also, even if God isnt real, does that make all religeons a terrible thing? i believe that believing a lie for the sake of people first having hope and second wanting to do good is a fairly positive thing. Also, whilst people may not be able to pass judgment on cloning from a religeous point of view they can still do it from a moral one and you have no right to say otherwise.

I think cloning is a good idea i understand we are doing someting crazy but we can do so many things by cloning like we can bring extinct animals back to life and i'm not saing bring dinosaurs back but some animals that are not so dangorus. It may sound stupid and wrong but i believe we can help animals and the warld.

Extinct Animals

posted by anon on 27 Nov 2007 at 5:49 pm

number one thing not to do w/ cloning:
BRING BACK EXTINCT ANIMALS!
Firstly, it ruins entire ecosystems that have evolved to live without those animals
secondly, it gives humans the mindframe that they can go out an hunt animals or destroy their habitats
b/c "hey, we can always bring them back!"

i think that killing a embryo to save a life is a good thing. it has no personality or emotions. nobody REALLY LOVES it yet... they can't. They don't even KNOW it yet. it's just a bunch of cells. it's a human, yes. but it isn't a person that laughs and cries and hugs and punches and bites.

To Claire

In reference to killing an innocent embryo in order to benefit the cloning of organs, I disagree. You state that "nobody REALLY LOVES it yet... they can't. They don't even KNOW it yet. It's just a bunch of cells. it's a human, yes. but it isn't a person that laughs and cries and hugs and punches and bites." (Claire)

As you state this embryo is in fact a person. It is, and should be, entitled to the basic rights that all humans posses; the right to life to be more specific. Just because they are helpless and dependent does not make it right to take away their whole essence of their being.

Also, when a women becomes pregnant she is immediately attached to the person growing inside of her, even if they do not "know it". Try telling a young mother who has had a miscarriage that she did not love her seedling.
Thank you for your time

In Response To Clarie

posted by Ali Gaih Tohr on 25 Jan 2008 at 2:28 pm

I would like to piggie-back on Bob's comment. I have a friend who has a three year-old daughter who, due to medical reasons, cannot laugh, cry, hug, punch or bite. So Clarie, would you consider her 'just a bunch of cells'?

I am of the opinion that we don't know exactly when an embryo has life; some say when it is conceived. Others say it is not alive until it is born. Obviously this argument is a matter of opinion, and we will not resolve the issue here; however, it is interesting to hear everyone's opinion. I definitely do not agree with human cloning. I think we need to be careful with our scientific research. We are NOT God. Try as we may, we will never be able to create as perfectly as He does. We should not create human embryos, let alone destroy them. That's all I have to say about that. Gracias.

Wait A Minute...

posted by Kirsten on 03 Feb 2008 at 6:08 am

I think that cloning for transplants is a great idea, just like Jared, apart from the God bit, but changing a baby to your own specifications (for cosmetic reasons, like eye or hair colour) is stupid, because if you feel that you cannot love your child unless it looks a certain way, then you shouldn’t be allowed to have a child. However, if your family history means that your child will be born with a terrible illness, then you should have this option to change it’s DNA make up to ensure that it won’t have to go through months of waiting for a donor to give whatever body part or cell your baby will need.
