'Inspiring' a new Alzheimer's Society publication, aimed at shining a light on leadership in dementia care is released recently.
Setting out 10 key beliefs, which go to the heart of person centred care; Inspiring also provides a model for good dementia care and tools for services to appraise themselves. The information is presented alongside colour images, which can be used by people living with dementia and healthcare professionals working with them.
Author and leading dementia trainer David Sheard says,
'Leadership in person centred care is a gift to pass on. One by one we can make a difference to thousands of people. This book identifies inspiring visions, beliefs, people and actions that we need to replicate more of. It helps you understand what constitutes good dementia care and how to inspire others. It's a must have resource guide for family members, organisations and everyone living and working together in dementia care.'
Neil Hunt, Alzheimer's Society chief executive says,
'Leading the fight against dementia means constantly challenging the way we look at the condition. This publication will question preconceived ideas about how we support people and ensure the best quality care for the 700,000 people living with dementia in the UK.'
The publication is part of a series of books being produced by the Alzheimer's Society highlighting how emotions must be at the heart of supporting people living with dementia. To purchase a copy of Inspiring please visit http://www.alzheimers.org.uk.
