Conflicting studies and news coverage regarding the menopause and its management has left many health professionals and women confused. Novo Nordisk has launched a Nurse Education Pack to help nurses feel more confident when guiding women through the menopause. Nurses from all over the country have been taking part in comprehensive training sessions using the new pack.
The aim of the training sessions is to empower nurses to pass on their knowledge to others using the pack as an educational tool. The pack provides an in-depth analysis of the menopause and its management, including the use of hormone replacement therapy aiming to stimulate debate and discussion with the use of case studies and scientific research. The pack contains everything necessary for a full training session.
Kathy Abernethy, Senior Nurse Specialist at the Menopause Unit, Northwick Park Hospital said "Recent news coverage of the menopause has left women confused and anxious. Nurses have a crucial role to play in guiding women through this difficult time. The Nurse Education Pack will allow nurses to share their experiences with each other and offer support and advice to the women that need it."
The menopause is a natural part of the life cycle and every woman experiences the menopause differently - it can be a time of immense frustration and confusion. Women going through the menopause need to pay particular attention to their health as the hormonal changes that take place can cause unpleasant symptoms and increase the risk of developing certain diseases. For some women the menopause represents a limitation of their femininity and for others it is a phase of new self-assurance.
Ed Hilton, Customer Relations Manager for Novo Nordisk said "The nurses role in the management of the menopause is becoming increasingly important and Novo Nordisk are excited to be working with nurses who have been using the educational pack to give women going through the menopause the support they need".
