Ivan Newman has decided to take up the baton of the Enduroman Arch to Arc Challenge to raise money for Allergy UK and the Anaphylaxis Campaign. The challenge involves him starting at Marble Arch in London and runing to Dover, a distance equivalent to 3 marathons (87 miles/140 km).

At Dover, he will swim to Calais across some very tough water for tides, wind and temperature (22 miles/ 35 km). From there he will cycle across northern France finishing at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris (180 miles/ 290 km). Ivan hopes to complete this between 100-120 hours and aims to be the first aged over 50 to do so!

His reason for doing this is his daughter, Liz, suffers from severe Oral Allergy Syndrome and anaphylaxis. This means she cannot eat raw fuits, vegetables, seeds, spices and nuts. Liz is likley to go into anaphylaxis shock if she even comes into contact with something that has touched these foods, for example, in a café if a waiter has laid cutlery on the table having just touched raw fruit and Liz uses the cutlery.

Ivan Newman is raising funds for the CAF/Allergy Trust, which is established under the Charities Aid Foundation (Registered Charity No. 268369). Ivan is hoping to raise in excess of Ł25,000, to be split between Allergy UK and the Anaphylaxis Campaign, to help find the answer to allergies and so people like Liz can live more safely. You can support Ivan by donating or offering goods/servies for the event.
