Consumers who use NEUPRO (rotigotine transdermal system) patches should contact their physicians immediately to receive further instructions on how to proceed with the use of this patch in light of the recent recall initiated by Schwarz Pharma, a company of the UCB Group. Consumers who use this product should not abruptly cease this therapy as sudden withdrawal may cause severe, even life threatening symptoms.

NEUPRO is used to treat the early stages of Parkinson's Disease, and uses the transdermal delivery system -- a patch worn on the skin. This product is being recalled due to the formation of crystals on the patch, which may lead to less of the drug being absorbed. If this occurs, it may reduce the effectiveness of the product, raising health concerns.

Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. strongly recommends consumers who utilize this drug to consult with their health care provider immediately to discuss further treatment.
