Lymphoma - Free Patient Literature Now Available To All

The Lymphoma Association is delighted to announce that all of their literature is now available to healthcare professionals free of charge.

Since 1986 the charity has provided free literature to callers to the helpline. However, with immediate effect, the Association is now able to extend this provision to all areas of the medical community.

As the only specialist UK charity providing information to those affected by lymphoma, the Association offers booklets, patient information sheets, videos and DVDs. A current publications list can be requested from the charity and is available on their website (http://www.lymphomas.org.uk).

The charity hopes that this exciting development will enable more people affected by lymphoma to have access to Lymphoma Association literature. To support the new service, the charity has recently appointed an existing member of staff to become their Hospital Liaison Officer. Sue Haines, who previously worked on the Association's helpline, will be working to ensure that the charity's information is available in as many hospitals and cancer information centres as possible.

As Sue says, "We are very happy to be able to offer our literature to everyone without charge. We hope that hospitals and cancer centres will support our drive to ensure anyone affected by lymphoma has access to up-to-date information about the illness. I very much look forward to working with health professionals around the UK to achieve this worthwhile aim".

About the Lymphoma Association

Founded by patients in 1986, the Lymphoma Association is the only specialist UK charity that provides accurate medical information and support to lymphatic cancer patients, their families and friends.

Every year, nearly 11,000 new cases of lymphoma are identified in the UK alone, making it the 6th most common cancer diagnosed by clinicians, and the most common cancer affecting the 15 - 30 age group.

The services that we offer include a freephone patient helpline, free patient literature, a buddy scheme with telephone links to others with similar experiences, local support groups, regional patient conferences and comprehensive information on our award winning websites. We also represent the patient perspective by providing evidence for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) appraisals, being on the steering committee of the NHS Coalition for Cancer Information (CCI) and by being a founder member of the Lymphoma Coalition - an international group of lymphoma patient support organisations.
