Do you know a high-achieving pharmacist who deserves national recognition? Then PSA would like you to nominate them for the 2008 PSA Excellence Awards.
Nominations are invited for three award categories: Lifetime Achievement Award, Pharmacist of the Year (Gold Medal) and Young Pharmacist of the Year (Silver Medal).
The PSA Lifetime Achievement Award was added to the highly esteemed gold and silver medals in 2007 to recognise outstanding and enduring contributions to professional practice.
In announcing the 2008 awards, PSA National President Brian Grogan said:
"The PSA Excellence Awards are the premier awards for Pharmacists in Australia, and they provide a rare opportunity to recognise and reward the achievers of our profession, those exceptional pharmacists who are models of best practice, involved in innovative practice and raising practice standards."
The awards aim to raise community awareness of the role and range of professional services provided by pharmacists who strive to make a difference in the communities they serve.
Mr Grogan has again welcomed Symbion Pharmacy Services as the award's exclusive sponsor. Symbion Pharmacy Services' Pharmacy Division, Group General Manager, Patrick Davies said:
"With a commitment to pharmacy and pharmacists, Symbion Pharmacy Services regards these awards as an important investment in the industry. Like so many pharmacists, we are focused on achieving excellence in the pharmacy sector and these awards are a great reflection of this philosophy, so we're both delighted and proud to be involved."
Symbion Pharmacy Services' sponsorship support enables PSA to provide each award recipient with an $8,000 Symbion Education Grant. These Grants provide winners with the opportunity to advance their knowledge by supporting their participation at a pharmacy-specific education event such as an international conference or course.
The three Excellence Award winners will be announced at the Opening Ceremony of Pharmacy Australia Congress (PAC) in Perth on Saturday 25 October.
The Lifetime Achiever will receive the prestigious PSA Lifetime Achievement Award, Pharmacist of the Year the Gold Medal and Young Pharmacist of the Year the Silver Medal, with all winners receiving a Symbion Pharmacy Services Education Grant, and perhaps most importantly, the recognition of their peers as having achieved professional excellence.
Award nominations close 1 September 2008.
