The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and The Pharmaceutical Journal (PJ) will again bring the BPC-PJ Careers Forum to the British Pharmaceutical Conference (BPC) this autumn. Sponsored by AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer, the Forum is aimed at all those who are thinking of exploring their career options within pharmacy or the pharmaceutical industry.
Visitors to the conference will be able to meet some of the major employers in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry, have their CVs assessed and receive valuable careers advice.
The Forum presents networking opportunities, aiming to assist current or recently qualified students and those already well established in their careers that are perhaps looking for fresh challenges or new career paths.
Running throughout the duration of the conference, the Forum will offer the following:
- Pre-arranged interviews with potential employers
- Visiting company seminars
- Careers advice surgeries
- Online job-hunting
- Networking areas
- A special Careers Forum reception
John Gentle, Chairman of the BPC Conference Committee, said:
"BPC is the premier science and pharmacy practice event in Britain, of which the BPC-PJ Careers Forum has formed a valuable feature over the past two years. I am delighted that we will be bringing this hugely important event back to BPC in 2008 - the feedback from previous attendees and conference delegates has been very positive and we hope that through the scheme we can help kick-start more careers in pharmacy."
Dr Chris Doherty, Vice-President, Pharmaceutical & Analytical R&D, AstraZeneca, said:
"We found the 2007 Careers Forum hugely beneficial and made several job offers to candidates interviewed in Manchester last year. We applaud the Society's continued desire to promote the pharmaceutical industry as an exciting careers option for pharmacists, and life science graduates, and are delighted to offer our full support again this year. We hope the Careers Forum will continue to develop into the key recruiting event for pharmaceutical development skills in the UK."
The BPC-PJ Careers Forum is open to all BPC 2008 delegates, but is also open free of charge to those not attending the conference that wish to attend the forum alone. To find out more about the BPC-PJ Careers Forum, or to book your attendance at the conference, visit http://www.bpc2008.org.
