Cosmetic Surgery Times turned to John A. Millard, M.D. for their article, "Aesthetic chest enhancement options include implants, high-def liposculpture." Dr. Millard's practice, Millard Plastic Surgery, located in the Denver area of Colorado, has seen a significant rise in his male patients seeking pectoralis augmentation, pectoralis implants, fat grafting, and the highly popular "sculpting" surgery via VASER Hi Def. This trend matched the results from a study by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that showed male cosmetic surgery patient numbers exceeding women (57 percent vs. 56 percent).

The story by Beth Kapes, quoted Dr. Millard, "In the last 18 months, my practice went from 10 percent men to 53 percent men...there are procedures that are swaying men toward cosmetic surgery that have grabbed their attention because they are more acceptable."

Dr. Millard also stated the results his pectoralis augmentation patients were experiencing that led to this growth included the ability to enjoy a sculpted, athletic appearance. This is made possible through the use of high-definition Liposculpture, developed by Columbian plastic surgeon Alfredo Hoyos, M.D. This unique procedure improves the contours of subcutaneous fat and defines the male patient's underlying musculature.

The type of person taking advantage of high-definition Liposculpture is also in contrast to the typical liposuction patient, who merely seeks to remove fat. The article sited another quote from Dr. Millard, "About 95 percent of our [high-definition liposculpture] patients maintain their results because they are already exercising and have nutritional goals, while only 50 percent of the traditional liposuction patients maintain their results."
