ORLANDO, FL (UroToday.com) - Noncoding RNA, known as MicroRNA, plays a role in protein synthesis by dictating the destiny of messengerRNA. Evidence for the critical role of MicroRNA in carcinogenesis of brain, lung, and pancreas malignancies is mounting.

In this report, the authors describe a method for evaluating global expression patterns of MicroRNA in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).

The authors were able to show that MicroRNA profile differed in ccRCC when compared to normal non-malignant tissue.

New concepts in carcinogenesis such as this pave the way not only to better understanding but also to potential novel therapies for malignancy.
