Pharmacists in hospitals and health systems have a new resource to help provide high quality patient care and fulfill the objectives of ASHP's Health System Pharmacy 2015 Initiative. The newly revised 2015 Crosswalk, now available on the ASHP Web site, provides a comprehensive and easy-to-use matrix that links the 2015 objectives with those of other national quality initiatives, as well as tools to help achieve them.

"We've heard from our members how helpful the original crosswalk was and we wanted to make sure it was as up-to-date as possible, while expanding its scope," said ASHP President Janet Silvester, M.B.A.

The new crosswalk was developed as part of ASHP's efforts to periodically review and update the Initiative to meet the evolving practice of health-system pharmacy. As the 2015 Initiative approached its fifth anniversary this year, ASHP engaged members in a systematic review of the goals and objectives. The process resulted in several new, revised, and deleted objectives.

The new crosswalk includes:

- The current 2015 goals and objectives,

- Correlated quality measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' new 8th Scope of Work, and

- Links to new tools that can help pharmacy departments meet the 2015 goals and objectives, such as clinical guidelines, best practices, and tool kits.

"This is a great illustration of the fact that the 2015 Initiative is a living, breathing embodiment of ASHP's Vision for Health-System Pharmacy Practice," Silvester said. "I continue to hear from members who find it very helpful in their strategic planning." Other new elements of the 2015 Initiative include a redesigned Web site and logo, and a new 2015 Campaign designed to recognize the commitment of pharmacy departments and state affiliates that have embraced the Initiative.
