Teeth whitening is the most popular procedure in cosmetic dentistry. But with so many whitening options available, selecting the one that best fits an individual's needs can be overwhelming.
Consumer Guide to Dentistry, a web portal providing consumer-friendly information on dental health, cuts through the confusion with a new teeth whitening section that has detailed information on all teeth whitening options. In "Teeth Whitening: Customize Your Bright, White Smile," readers learn about the many bleaching options, esthetics, risks and rewards. The article can be found here.
Companion articles provide details about whitening systems used in dental offices, take-home kits prescribed by dentists for home use and over-the-counter alternatives such as strips, toothpastes and flosses. Articles compare the advantages and disadvantages of each, and provide step-by-step procedural walkthroughs and cost information.
Consumer Guide to Dentistry's new whitening section also discusses the causes of tooth discoloration and offers tips to help a newly whitened smile stay that way.
Launched in April 2007, Consumer Guide to Dentistry provides reliable, up-to-date information on cosmetic dentistry, dental specialties, procedures, conditions and diseases, oral hygiene, dental advances and how to choose a dentist. Some of the site's most popular sections are:
Cosmetic Dentistry
Dental Implants
Dental Veneers

Tooth Whitening Percentages
posted by Dr. Julia Jensen on 18 Jun 2008 at 4:33 pmThe article is well written except for the fact that it fails to mention that tooth whitening gel products come in different concentrations. The most effective concentrations are the higher 22% and 35% concentrations. For some people, they higher percentage is needed to bleach the tougher stains of coffee and red wine. The best value on these percentages can be found at http://www.toothwhiteningexperts.com.
