ORLANDO, FL (UroToday.com) - Data is emerging that clinical staging is no longer predictive of outcomes in men with localized prostate cancer, as PSA screening becomes more and more prevalent.

Reese and colleagues used the CaPSURE database to evaluate the impact of clinical staging on disease progression following radical retropubic prostatectomy. 3,635 men were included in the study, and a multivariate analysis revealed that clinical stage is indeed no longer a significant factor in predicting disease recurrence in men with localized CaP.

Presented by Adam C Reese, MD, Matthew R Cooperberg, MD, Christopher J Kane, MD, Peter R Carroll, MD, at the Annual Meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA) - May 17 - 22, 2008. Orange County Convention Center - Orlando, Florida, USA.
