The 97h Annual Meeting of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) will be held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta from Wednesday, June 18 through Sunday, June 22, 2008. Approximately 750 psychoanalysts, students, and other mental health professionals are expected to attend. APsaA is pleased to be meeting in Atlanta, home to one of its 29 approved (accredited) training institutes, the Emory University Psychoanalytic Institute and one of its many affiliate societies, the Atlanta Psychoanalytic Society.

The Scientific Program of the Meeting features a number of exceptional sessions. Of particular note is the Presidential Symposium, "The Forever War on Terror: Dilemmas and Choices," to be presented by honorary member APsaA Dr. Charles Strozier who will discuss the ways in which the apocalyptic mindset that underlies the current "war on terror" has changed the role of the United States in global politics, altering principles established by framers of the constitution. He will also answer questions about the candidates and current political campaigns as well. Chairing the symposium is APsaA's president K. Lynne Moritz, M.D.

A professor of history at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, Dr. Strozier is also Director of the College's Center on Terrorism. Dr. Strozier is an historian who writes about the history of psychoanalysis and also about history using psychoanalytic tools of understanding.
