The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM) President and CEO, Barbara B. Kennelly has announced the creation of a new non-profit foundation, The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare Foundation. The National Committee Foundation is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide public education through sound policy analysis and media focused outreach on the future of the Social Security and Medicare programs. With strong ties to national policy and opinion makers, the National Committee Foundation is uniquely positioned to have a significant impact on emerging budget, health care, and retirement policy debates that its leadership holds are essential to our nation's economic future.
"The NCPSSM Foundation will expand and enhance the successful advocacy work we've been doing for the past 25 years at the National Committee. The Foundation's unique goal is to restore balance to the so-called "entitlement" debate through sound policy analysis. Simply proposing drastic entitlement cuts, ignores the harsh retirement income trends already threatening the next several generations of working American families. The debate over the future of Social Security and Medicare bust move beyond an exclusive focus on federal budgetary considerations."....Barbara B. Kennelly, President/CEO.
Former Congresswoman Kennelly also announced the appointment of Scott L. Frey to the Position of Executive Director of the National Committee Foundation. Mr. Frey has over 20 years of experience in health, aging, and retirement income policy and advocacy in Washington, both on Capitol Hill and in the non-profit sector.
While fiscal challenges must be met, lacking today's rhetoric related to these critical safety net programs is any notion of the growing challenges that face today's working families seeking security in retirement. How will today's younger generations fare in retirement as public and private savings, including income, health benefits and pension coverage, fall? Satisfying the public need for answers to such questions is the National Committee Foundation's key objective.
