Lamaze International launched a new weekly pregnancy e-mail newsletter for expectant parents. This free weekly e-mail, entitled Lamaze...Building Confidence Week by Week, features trustworthy information, practical tips and inspirational stories to help guide women and families through pregnancy and beyond.

Based on a woman's calculated due date, Lamaze...Building Confidence Week by Week sends weekly e-mails with personalized information on her particular stage of pregnancy, and includes a health tip, research brief, ask a Lamaze educator question and answer, list of resources and testimonial. The e-mails provide useful information, including tips to help women navigate the confusing maze of today's maternity care system and make informed decisions when choosing a care provider, advice on nutrition and fitness, and other information that will help women prepare for pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting.

"Lamaze is proud to offer this service to parents," says Lamaze International President Allison Walsh, IBCLC, LCCE, FACCE. "Through this new tool, we hope to communicate to women that pregnancy and birth are normal and healthy events by building confidence in themselves and their bodies."

Different from other weekly pregnancy e-mail subscriptions on commercial Web sites, Lamaze...Building Confidence Week by Week:

- Focuses on health and wellness, not a laundry list of possible complications.
- Honors the amazing work of pregnancy and birth, and helps women gain confidence in their own instincts and strengths.
- Believes strongly in parents' rights to safe and effective maternity care, full information, and the freedom to choose or refuse tests and treatments, and care that is sensitive to personal and cultural preferences.
- Follows a very strict advertising policy, and complies fully with the World Health Organization's International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes.
- Never shares contact information with companies or third parties without permission.
