Ten female Democratic senators on Tuesday released a "checklist for change" that aims to discourage female voters who supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) in the presidential primary elections from supporting Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) in the general election, The Hill reports.
The checklist includes ensuring that women receive equal pay; making health care more affordable; keeping jobs in the U.S.; providing benefits for veterans; and protecting the environment. It does not include protecting abortion rights. Democrats later said that pro-abortion rights positions were included in the idea of establishing universal healthcare, according to The Hill (Raju, The Hill, 6/17).
Democratic Sens. Barbara Boxer (Calif.), Maria Cantwell (Wash.), Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Mary Landrieu (La.), Blanche Lincoln (Ark.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Barbara Mikulski (Md.), Patty Murray (Wash.) and Debbie Stabenow (Mich.) are involved in the effort (Mikulski release, 6/17).
The senators said that the checklist will unite the Democratic Party and that they plan to repeat the checklist on the Senate floor, at campaign rallies and at the Democratic National Convention in August. Mikulski said that the checklist "is a way to show that whether you were for Hillary or whether you were for Barack, that we've come together on this checklist for change" (The Hill, 6/17).

Womens Checklist
posted by Niliad on 20 Jun 2008 at 1:57 amAs a Hillary supporter, I can reiterate..I would never vote for Obama! Never! The way he and DNC trated Mrs Clinton was shameful and we know Mrs.Clinton will be supporting Obama, but we don't have to.. For the first time in my life I will be voting Republican or not voting at all... I truly feel Obama is a radical racist anti-American supporter..his association with the church and preacher that screams hatred words towards American of for Twenty Years is something that I would never want for my president...
Maybe you don't care but We do! That he now for self serving political gains denounces the church and preacher and wears the flag pin is truly hypocritical! Women McCain is an
American hero and I really don't think he will be taking your rights away as women It's really not truel..There is so much more immportant issues that I truly believe McCain cares abou and is honest ..Let us not be blind sighted by Obama. The DNC made their choice it does not mean that it has to be our choice!
