The state Medical Examiner's Office cited cardiac arrhythmia, or abnormal heart rhythm, as the cause of sudden death of 19 year-old U.S. Naval Academy student Kristen Dickmann.
Dickmann, a first year student and volleyball player at the academy, was studying to be a naval aviator.
The Johns Hopkins experts below can shed light on sudden cardiac death and this serious heart condition, including potential symptoms and causes, preventive and interventional/non-surgical treatment options.

Naval Aviator Training
posted by rodd browne on 2 Jul 2008 at 1:44 pmA U S Naval Academy midshipman does not study to be a naval aviator while at the Naval Academy. Ms Dickmann was studying for an engineering degree. After graduation from the Naval Academy a newly commissioned naval or marine officer may then be assigned to Primary Flight School in Pensacola, Florida for naval aviator training.
