Suzan Ulrich Named To ACNM Fellowship

Suzan Ulrich, CNM, DrPH, FACNM of Ripley, NY was inducted into the Fellowship of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (FACNM) at the ACNM 53rd Annual Meeting in Boston this May.

Dr. Ulrich received her midwifery degree at Georgetown University in 1983. She completed her Doctor of Public Health degree in 1991 from the University of Pittsburgh. Currently, Dr. Ulrich is the chair of Midwifery and Women's Health at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, and helped the school achieve both regional accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges and institutional accreditation by the ACNM; the first midwifery school to do this. Prior to FNS, as a new graduate, Dr. Ulrich opened the Women's Health Care Clinic at Beverly Hospital providing services to women who did not have access to care. Then she was director of the North Shore Birth Center for ten years and presided over a $100,000 renovation.

Dr. Ulrich has served as secretary for the Service Directors Network and on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Birth Centers. She has been an active ACNM chapter member serving in many capacities including chapter chair for two chapters. Dr. Ulrich has served as Region I Representative to the ACNM Board of Directors, was an ACNM liaison to MANA, and is a site visitor for the ACNM Division of Accreditation. She was elected to and is currently the Chair of the ACNM Nominating Committee.
