Summaries of two grants that seek to reduce racial disparities appear below.

Arkansas: NIH's National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities has awarded the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences a $2.5 million grant to provide colorectal cancer screenings and education to residents of two Mississippi Delta counties, the AP/WREG News Channel 3 reports. The grant will fund a program that gives residents take-home screening kits. UAMS' Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute will manage the program (AP/WREG News Channel 3, 8/5).
Minnesota: The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation has awarded Madelia Community Hospital a $10,000 grant to improve English language proficiency and promote cross-cultural care among Hispanic patients, the St. James Plain Dealer reports. The grant will be used to reduce health disparities among immigrants and improve health care in the community, according to the Plain Dealer. Madelia will use the grant to fund its project called "Watonwan County ACE: Assisting, Connecting and Empowering Our Latino Community" (St. James Plain Dealer, 8/6).
