The NPA has responded to the Department of Health (DH) Consultation on economic modelling of vascular screening. The NPA is asking for the DH to review the contribution which community pharmacy can make as set out in the consultation document which is not in line with the DH recommendations in the Pharmacy White Paper 'Pharmacy in England Building in Strengths - delivering the future April 2008.

Margaret Peycke, NPA External Relations Manager said: "Community pharmacies are easily accessible and many people often see pharmacists more often than any other healthcare professional. Both these factors make pharmacy an important tool in the delivery of vascular screening. Additionally community pharmacy will also offer health promotion advice and referral as appropriate."
