Renowned international experts on breast cancer will gather in London for the London Breast Institute's 2nd annual International Symposium at the Royal College of Medicine on Thursday, 2 October 2008. Topics for discussion range from the latest developments in breast cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to the leading treatment methods and state of the art technologies now available.
Keynote speaker, Dr Robert Smith, director of Cancer Screening at the American Cancer Society (US), will present his analysis of managing the risks of patients with a family history of breast cancer. Professor Roland Holland, director of the National Expert & Training Centre for Breast Cancer Screening, University Medical Centre, St Radboud (The Netherlands), will look at the genetics and risk assessment of breast cancer.
Professor Ingvar Andersson, associate professor of Medical Radiology, Malmo University (Sweden), will discuss digital breast tomosynthesis and digital mammography

In 2007 the London Breast Institute presented its study on breast density in city dwelling women. This world-leading research identified the greater risk of breast cancer for urban women and reached an estimated global audience of over 350 million people[1].
As a part of its ongoing multidisciplinary approach to breast care, the Institute will lay out its continuing plan including further research initiatives and will announce its latest innovative diagnostic equipment for patients.
