BERLIN, GERMANY (UroToday.com) - Focal prostate cancer therapy utilizing cryosurgery was reviewed by Dr. Ivan Colon, Assistant Professor of Urology, SUNY Downstate Medical School, and the use of HIFU for this indication was discussed by Dr. Ivan Grunberger, Associate Clinical Professor of Urology SUNY Downstate Medical School and Chief, Division of Urology New York Methodist Hospital.
The conclusions of their presentations were very similar. Both felt that focal ablation was technically feasible utilizing the respective technologies but that the data was far too immature to be able to recommend either as a standard of care.
Presented by Ivan Colon, MD, and Ivan Grunberger, MD, at the Annual Meeting of the American Urological Association - New York Section - September 6 - 13, 2008 - Berlin, Germany
