Know Your Nodes! That's the message the Lymphoma Association and Leukaemia CARE are spreading ahead of World Lymphoma Awareness Day (WLAD), an event held annually on September 15th which aims to inform the public about lymphoma; the sixth most common cancer in the UK.
In order to recognise WLAD this year, the charities, both members of the Lymphoma Coalition, are encouraging people to go online and take part in a quiz which tests people's understanding of their lymph nodes, the lymphatic system and gives information on the common signs and symptoms of the cancer.
Julie Mercer, Head of Communications for the Lymphoma Association says: "If people have a better understanding of how their lymphatic system works, it means that potential symptoms may be recognised sooner, leading to earlier detection of the cancer. Early detection and diagnosis is key to the success of treatment so we really want as many people as possible to take the quiz and educate themselves."
