The Medical Protection Society has had an overwhelming response to its autumn Specialist Registrars (SpR) conference: Making the most of Your Consultant Post, with 280 SpR's and consultants registered to attend.
MPS is running two conferences for senior specialist registrars and newly qualified consultants in London and Manchester, which will offer practical advice on surviving and succeeding the first few years as a consultant and getting the most out of a consultant post.
The London conference will be held on 16 October 2008 and the Manchester conference held on 21 October 2008.
MPS medicolegal advisers and external speakers who are experts in the field of teamwork, communication skills and what it takes to become a consultant will bring together wide-ranging perspectives and signpost the smoothest route to success.
Dr Stephanie Bown, Director of Policy and Communications said: "The conference exposes delegates to the distilled experiences of the first years of consultant life - things you can't find in any textbook, and which will prepare you for the success you have worked so hard to achieve.
"It has been hugely successful in the past and we hope to make it available as widely as possible in future years."
The day is divided into four main sections:
- Taking care of your team
- Taking care of business
- Taking care of yourself
- Taking care of patients
