Moffitt Cancer Center Presents The 2nd Biennial Latinos Y El Cancer Educational Symposium - Free Event Will Be In Spanish

Moffitt Cancer Center will host the second biennial Latinos y el cancer Educational Symposium November 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Vincent A. Stabile Research Building, 12902 Magnolia Drive The event is free and open to the public and will be conducted entirely in Spanish.

This educational symposium is designed to provide cancer education and resources to the Tampa Bay Hispanic community. The symposium will include short presentations on several types of cancer and other topics related to the disease. Attendees will have the opportunity to register in the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) to become potential bone marrow donors.

"The main goal of this meeting is to increase awareness among the Hispanic community on the importance of cancer prevention and research, and on the treatments available for common cancers," said Dr. Melissa Alsina, a member of Moffitt's Blood and Marrow Transplant program. "The idea is to reach out to the Hispanic community and help them learn about cancer and about how this disease is, in many cases, very treatable and even curable."
