More than 4,000 health professionals are expected to attend the upcoming IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis (IOF WCO) to be held from December 3 - 7, 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand. Detailed information about the congress is available on the IOF website at http://www.iofbonehealth.org/

IOF and the Thai Osteoporosis Foundation are honoured to announce that HRH Princess Mahajakri Sirindhorn of Thailand will officially open the Congress. The opening ceremony will also include a welcome address by Professor John Kanis, President of IOF.

As the leading global congress covering all aspects of osteoporosis and related bone diseases, the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis offers clinicians and scientists from around the world an overview of the most recent developments and cutting edge research in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis as well as policy-related issues such as health economics.

Congress highlights:

The IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis is an opportunity to hear and meet the world's leading experts in the field. The scientific program will feature: In addition, on December 3, 2008 prior to the opening ceremonies, IOF will hold a media briefing to present preliminary results of an upcoming Asian Osteoporosis Audit report (to be published in April 2009). At the same time, a "Call to Action" will be issued by leading Asian women: Mrs Alice Chiu, Hong Kong; Ms Letisha Zivanna, Indonesia; Mrs Ying Xu, China; and Prof. Khunying Kobchitt, Thailand.
