The innovative ACUSON P10™ ultrasound system and versatile ACUSON X300™ were recently showcased to HRH The Princess Royal at a special event at The College of Emergency Medicine. The occasion celebrated the college being presented with a Royal Charter in honour of its speciality work in advancing education and research in emergency medicine.

John Sloan, Consultant in Emergency Medicine demonstrated the various benefits the ultrasound systems can provide. This included the ACUSON P10's lightweight and portable design to provide a quick and versatile solution to high quality imaging in emergency situations.

The ACUSON P10 is the first available hand held ultrasound screening device, designed to provide faster care in critical situations. It is currently undergoing evaluation by regional ambulance services and rescue helicopters. The small size and 700 gram weight of the unit makes it useful in trauma situations for providing high quality scan images.

The lightness and portability of the ACUSON P10 also opens the opportunities for digital stethoscope examinations. Simple to use for identifying life-threatening cardiac issues in emergency and triage environments, the non-invasive examinations can eliminate some tests and provide instant images for review at the point of care. This speeds up diagnosis and shortens the investigation process for patients - thus improving outcomes and increasing throughput.

"We were delighted to be able to showcase the latest in ultrasound technology for this occasion," states Declan Dunphy, Product Manager for Ultrasound at Siemens Healthcare. "The ACUSON systems are designed to provide high quality imaging in a compact and portable form, important when treating patients in emergency situations. We were also pleased to be part of the Royal Charter celebrations in support of the excellent education and research work undertaken by the college."

The ACUSON X300 ultrasound system delivers high quality imaging in a compact, portable package. It is lightweight, mobile and designed to meet demanding operational and clinical challenges. The digital system provides efficient clinical performance across a wide range of imaging applications, for areas such as emergency medicine, cardiac, breast, gynaecology, obstetrics and vascular.
