Women's Health 2009: The 17th Annual Congress is sponsored by the VCU Institute for Women's Health and Journal of Women's Health, and is the annual meeting of the American Medical Women's Association (AMWA)(http://www.amwa-doc.org), an organization devoted to the advancement of women in medicine and the improvement of women's health. Other collaborating organizations include American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association, American College of Physicians-Virginia Chapter, American Heart Association's Go Red for Women, American Thyroid Association, Arthritis Foundation, National Stroke Association, National Women's Health Resource Center, The North American Menopause Society, and WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.
Congress Chair Wendy S. Klein, MD, Senior Deputy Director Emeritus of the VCU Institute for Women's Health, a National Center of Excellence, Richmond, VA and Deputy Editor of Journal of Women's Health, Co-Chair Susan G. Kornstein, MD, Executive Director of the VCU Institute for Women's Health and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Women's Health, and AMWA Co-Chairs Laurel A. Waters, MD, FCAP, FASCP and Eliza Lo Chin, MD, MPH, will bring together outstanding faculty of the highest caliber. An array of informative sessions will focus on the most clinically relevant topics in women's health including cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, menopause, infectious disease, reproductive health, bone health, dermatology, and common clinical conditions.
The Congress offers 23.75 AMA PRA Category 1 credits, 23.5 ANCC credits, and 19.00 AAFP credits, sponsored by The Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM). The Pharmacology Nursing Hours accreditation is pending approval for continuing education and pharmacology credit, as appropriate, by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
