Konica Minolta Medical Imaging introduced the FlexDR, an upright, flat panel digital radiography system at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). The FDA-cleared FlexDR features an Amorphous Silicon (aSi) and Cesium Iodide (CsI) receptor that boasts ultra-high detective quantum efficiency (DQE) for high-quality images even with minimum X-ray exposure. The product will be available for sale in the U.S. in the 1st quarter of 2009.

"With a high DQE and ergonomic design, the FlexDR represents the ultimate in workflow and image quality making it an ideal solution for any high volume facility," says Darren Werner, Digital Radiography Product Manager, Konica Minolta Medical Imaging. "The FlexDR enables technologists to boost productivity while simultaneously enhancing the quality of patient care with its user-friendly design."

The TechLink review console on the FlexDR provides new workflow enhancements. Technologists can immediately review and approve the image right at the patient's side, creating a more efficient workflow that can also reduce both total exam time and patient call backs. The system is optimized for patient comfort and an ergonomically-correct technologist workspace that can help increase productivity.

FlexDR is a sophisticated upright digital radiology system that is suitable for a wide range of clinical applications. Each image is available for review approximately five seconds after exposure, making it an ideal solution for high throughput imaging environments from an enterprise hospital to a busy imaging center.
