New E-rostering Software Helps Lincolnshire Hospitals Work More Efficiently And Cost-effectively

Hospitals in Lincolnshire are finding new ways to work more efficiently and cost-effectively- with the introduction of a new e-Rostering system.

The electronic rostering system will prepare rotas for all staff groups working in all wards and departments in Lincolnshire's hospitals.

This will replace older, often paper-based, rotas which are more timeconsuming to create and less effective at allocating staff.

E-Rostering is an electronic way of managing when staff are needed to work in individual wards and departments, ensuring the right skill mix of staff are always on duty and that the correct staffing levels are always achieved. It also cuts down on the amount of time spent on creating rosters, freeing up more time for direct patient care.

The new system also means that the trust will be able to offer more flexible working solutions for its staff as they can be managed more easily.

Chief Nurse at the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Sylvia Knight, said that the new rostering software has been purchased by the trust to help every ward and department set up their rotas.

"The main benefit of this will be in the amount of time it frees up for managers who won't be having to work out paper-based rotas. But there will also be benefits for patients as it will allow greater use and efficiency of existing trust staff, meaning the right people should always be on duty at the right times.

"And there will be benefits for staff too by giving them more input into their rotas."

The trust will be using Manpower Software's MAPS Healthroster solution for the new e-Rostering software.
