"Increasing the Use of the Capitated Model for Dual Eligibles: Cost Savings Estimates and Public Policy Opportunities," Association for Community Affiliated Plans/Medicaid Health Plans of America: The report, written by the Lewin Group, calculates state and federal spending for beneficiaries dually eligible for Medicaid and Medicare and discusses how integration of their health care and services could reduce costs. According to the report, integrating health care and services for dual eligibles could generate savings of more than $300 billion from 2010 to 2024 (Medicare ACAP release, 12/2).
Updated Medicaid and Medicare primers, Kaiser Family Foundation: The Kaiser Family Foundation has updated two primers about Medicaid and Medicare. Medicaid: A Primer includes an overview of the program and updated tables examining the state-to-state variation in eligibility, enrollment and spending for beneficiaries. The updated version of Medicare: A Primer explains key elements of the program including information on Medicare Advantage plans and the Medicare drug benefit. The primer provides detailed tables showing the number of Medicare beneficiaries in each state, grouped by age, income level, source of drug coverage and enrollment in MA plans (Kaiser Family Foundation press release, 12/2).
