The Kaiser Family Foundation will host a live webcast, "Are Health Disparities Back on the National Agenda? Examining the Impact of a New Administration and Congress," at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Dec. 9 as part of an ongoing series of interactive webcasts about health and health care disparities in the U.S. With a new administration and substantially changed Congress coming to Washington in January, there is a significant opportunity for new policy initiatives to tackle issues of racial and ethnic disparities in health and health care. A panel of experts will take a closer look at what types of policies and initiatives could emerge over the next few years. They will also examine how the new administration might prioritize efforts to eliminate health disparities in the future. Cara James, Ph.D., Senior Policy Analyst of Race/Ethnicity & Health Care at the Kaiser Family Foundation, moderates the discussion with Peter Bach, M.D., Former Senior Advisor, Office of the Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Associate Attending Physician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; Rep. Hilda Solis (D-Calif.), Member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Health and the Environment Task Force; and Brian Smedley, Ph.D., Vice President at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and Director of the Joint Center Health Policy Institute. Questions can be submitted in advance or during the show to ask@kaisernetwork.org.
The webcast will be available online.
