Since the first partial face transplant was carried out a few years ago, craniomaxillofacial surgeons have continued breaking new ground. Thieme launches Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction, a quarterly journal dedicated to post trauma surgery and reconstruction of the face and skull base. Editor-in-Chief Paul Manson, MD, is a pioneer in the field.

Dr. Paul N. Manson is the president of AO (Arbeitsgemeinschaft fuer Osteosynthesefragen) as well as a professor and chairman of the department of plastic surgery at John Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore,Maryland. Over the years, he has actively contributed to the development of new and unique implants for maxillofacial surgery.

"As this area of medicine continues on an upward trajectory and the needs for these challenging procedures grow exponentially, we at Thieme believe this is the opportune moment to launch a new journal. We are fortunate to have leading minds working with us on this new project," says Daniel Schiff, Vice President and Publisher, Journals.

The patient-oriented journal publishes original, peer-reviewed articles that are international in scope. In this journal, medical professionals specializing in areas such as ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and dentistry will find the information they require in meeting their professional demands and the multi-faceted needs of their patients.
