UroToday.com - A manuscript and video written and created by Dr. Atul A. Thakre, et al., showed a robotic assisted Mitrofanoff and Malone's procedure using a divided appendix.

Robotic assistance is making its way into pediatric reconstruction more and more every day. The group here utilized a long appendix to perform an appendicovesicostomy along with a Malone antegrade continence enema to manage a patient with combined wetting and severe constipation. A similar procedure was reported by Linve, et al., on robotic assisted laparoscopic appendicovesicostomy, in an antegrade continent enema, utilizing a colon tube created from the secum. The outcomes of both of these procedures were favorable.

It seems to be an easy transition if these procedures are performed laparoscopically without any issues other than that robotic assistance can only help the laparoscopic surgeon become more efficient.
