INVIRION Diagnostics, LLC, successfully launched their new Molecular Hybrid Platform (MoHP) at EUROGIN 2008 (European Research Organization on Genital Infection and Neoplasia). EUROGIN is the leading international multidisciplinary organization involved in research, training, screening, prevention and information concerning genital infections, pre-cancers and cancers in women. INVIRION'S Hybrid Platform is a revolutionary instrument that allows clinicians to perform solution based and cell based molecular diagnostics on one simple yet robust platform. Following the launch, INVIRION Diagnostics will install its first unit in a hospital in Vietnam this week as part of its population based solution to Vietnam's high prevalence of cervical cancer.

Dr. Bruce K. Patterson of Stanford University School of Medicine (Pala Alto, CA) and CEO/Founder of INVIRION Diagnostics, LLC, presented data on the superior performance of Invirion's HPV OncoTect™ E6, E7 mRNA Detection System performed on the MoHP compared to HPV DNA tests for cervical cancer screening. The INVIRION MoHP platform is small and portable and yet has the power expected in a flow cytometer to perform complex clinical applications. The MoHP is also specifically designed to run all of INVIRION's protocols and reagents, ViroTect and OncoTect product lines, with intuitive software for collection and analysis of data.

Also at EUROGIN, Dr. Petros Karakitsos from the University of Athens General Hospital ("ATTIKON") in Greece presented HPV OncoTect™ data from 1100 women demonstrating equivalent sensitivity and greater specificity (less false positives) by HPV OncoTect™ compared to competitive HPV DNA tests.

"HPV OncoTect™, is a robust assay that uses fluorescence in situ hybridization for detection of E6/E7 messenger RNA in ectocervical cells in liquid-based cytology specimens," says Patterson. "This assay is the only one used clinically that quantifies HPV oncogene (E6, E7) over-expression where it matters-in the cell". Patterson added, "INVIRION'S goal is to save lives by providing the best and most cost effective early detection technology. Adding the MoHP to our OncoTect technology allows INVIRION to provide a population based solution to fight against cervical cancer-causing HPV in developing countries, the U.S., and throughout the world."

INVIRION Diagnostics, LLC is the first theranostics company dedicated to the detection, monitoring and treatment of life-threatening viral diseases such as HIV/AIDS, cervical cancer, hepatitis, and organ transplant rejection. INVIRION. was founded in 1999 with the goal of commercializing state-of-the-art molecular virology technology to make a difference in patient health care and ultimately in people's lives. INVIRION's research, development, and commercialization efforts are focused on monitoring viruses that cause human disease and using the information gleaned from these novel assays to develop therapeutic products that rationally target the viral lifecycle.
