X-GEN Pharmaceuticals announced that it will begin marketing Acetazolamide for Injection USP. The product is AP rated and equivalent to Diamox(R)(1) by Duramed Pharmaceuticals. Acetazolamide for Injection USP is indicated for adjunctive treatment of: edema due to congestive heart failure; drug-induced edema; centrencephalic epilepsies (petit mal, unlocalized seizures); chronic simple (open-angle) glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and preoperatively in acute angle-closure glaucoma where delay of surgery is desired in order to lower intraocular pressure.

Acetazolamide for Injection USP is supplied as a sterile, preservative-free lyophilized powder. Each vial contains acetazolamide sodium equivalent to 500mg of acetazolamide. It is packaged in single vial cartons NDC# 39822-0190-1, and should be stored at 20 degrees - 25 degrees C (68 degrees - 77 degrees F) [See USP Controlled Room Temperature].
