Communities across Lincolnshire are being invited to get involved and have their say on the next step for the future of the county's hospitals, by attending a consultation event in their area.

The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust intends to apply for NHS Foundation Trust status. This means it is applying to become a new kind of NHS Trust - one which is more accountable to the local population with closer links to the community and more flexibility to develop services according to their needs.

The trust is asking for input from local people at a series of public consultation events from Monday, January 5 2009 to Sunday, March 29 2009.

These events will be an opportunity for everyone to find out more about NHS Foundation Trusts, what they do, how they operate, to give their feedback on the trust's proposals for membership arrangements and to become members of the trust if they so wish.

The next drop-in event is scheduled to take place at:
The Drill Hall in Free School Lane, Lincoln
3pm to 7pm
Wednesday 7 January
