As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting young graduates the BVA has added two new services to its Young Vet Network (YVN) package to help members lighten the financial load they face on graduation and enhance their professional knowledge.

From January 2009, graduate YVN members - up to eight years qualified - will receive free personal accident insurance as part of their membership package. The cover operates 24 hours a day, in both work and leisure time and is provided on a worldwide basis (subject to conditions applying in respect to travel to countries contrary to advice issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office). There are also some activities that have been excluded, although these have been kept to a minimum, all of which is explained in detail on the YVN section of the BVA website.

The BVA is also delighted to have teamed up with Improve International to offer a 30% discount on its one-day UK update courses. These are designed to provide a rapid review of important issues in veterinary medicine, surgery and business with this year's courses including 'Coping with difficult anaesthetics - an update on recent advances' and a dentistry practical, 'How to perform tricky tooth extractions in the dog'. To qualify for the discount members will need to complete a course registration form and supply a valid BVA membership number. Again, further information on making use of this members' service can be found at http://www.bva.co.uk/youngvetnetwork.
