The Renal Physicians Association 2009 Annual Meeting, "CKD and Your Practice Culture: Improve Your Performance!", March 20-23, in Baltimore, will include plenary sessions and interactive workshops on topics that are timely and relevant to today's nephrology practitioners. RPA will convene national leaders and experts in their fields to help nephrologists and practice managers craft the future development of practices to meet the growing needs and learn the latest regulatory and legislative requirements affecting CKD patient care. By implementing systems and processes in nephrology practices, practices will be prepared to face the ever changing healthcare environment.

Plenary sessions and interactive workshops will focus on how utilization of evidence-based medicine, decision support systems and tools, and practice report cards can help improve practice operations and efficiencies so that practices may continue to improve and prosper with improved practice performance. In addition, practices that have participated in the government's Physicians Quality Reporting Initiative will share their experiences. The results from RPA's 2007 Nephrology Business Benchmarking Survey as well as progress regarding implementation of RPA's field test of the Advanced CKD Patient Management Toolkit will be shared with attendees.

Workshop topics will also address various billing systems and how to identify the optimal system based on practice needs. With the significant growth in the CKD patient population and the shrinking nephrology workforce, more doctors are incorporating nurse practitioners and physician assistants into their nephrology practices. Learn how to effectively integrate these advanced practitioners to your practice team.

Beyond the rich and pertinent content that the RPA meeting offers, this unique venue allows nephrologists an opportunity to network with their colleagues from around the country and obtain practical advice on issues we grapple with every day.

The Renal Physicians Association (RPA) is the professional organization of nephrologists whose goal is to ensure quality care under the highest standards of medical practice for patients with kidney disease and related disorders.
