The MS Society is planning its next national advertising campaign for MS Week 2009 (27 April to 3 May). After the success of the 2008 campaign a similar visual style and approach is set to be adopted for MS Week - and as with the last campaign in 2008, we need your stories.
We are once again using an online message board (details below) to seek stories, quotes and models for the 2009 MS Week campaign, which will this year focus on the misconceptions and mistaken beliefs around MS.
This is your chance to make a difference to the way we communicate about multiple sclerosis (MS) and set the record straight.
The adverts that ran last year did a lot to raise awareness of MS and the MS Society, boosted our fundraising, and led to a lot of media coverage.
We intend to keep getting loud about MS and the challenges it brings in 2009, and we need your help.
We would like to explore the misconceptions you have faced, how your lives were affected, whether you overcame them and, if so, how. A lot of you have already posted about this and we would love to carry on the discussion.
So, what has your experience been of the misunderstandings about MS? What have people assumed it has meant for you? And did you try to put them right?
How to get involved
You don't need to have MS to take part in this. You could be a family member of someone with MS, a carer, a health professional or more. You can be any age and from anywhere; we need to hear from you to make this campaign live. You don't need to be an MS Society member either. This is open to any of you (including the people who took part before! We may be in touch again…)
You will need to visit the A Chance to Talk section of our website, which will give you instructions on how to access the special message board we are using called Putting the Pieces Together.
