Myanmar's Three Diseases Fund -- which was launched in 2006 to compensate for grants that were suspended by the Global Fund To Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria -- has provided nine non-governmental organizations with a total of $630,000 for this year, Xinhuanet reports. The funds will go toward a one-year project in states and divisions across the country. The fund -- which is worth about $100 million -- is funded by the European Commission, Sweden's development agency Sida, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom's Department for International Development, Norway and Australia's AusAID, according to Xinhuanet.
UNAIDS data indicate that the number of people living with HIV/AIDS in the country has decreased from 300,000 in 2001 to 240,000 in 2007. According to Xinhuanet, the government's efforts against malaria have included the annual distribution of 50,000 long-lasting insecticide-treated nets in rural areas since 2000. The country also has maintained up to 400,000 existing ITNs since 2000 (Xinhuanet, 1/26).

Need surgery help
posted by JAMES ODUOR on 2 Sep 2010 at 6:43 amI am James, I used to play hockey at school, but my hit under my belly with hockey stick. After a period of 3 years I started feeling my groin tearing up. I thought it was a joke, but it persists. Today I am a father of 3 sons. But I am not comfortable with this coz I suspect that without me being operated it may interfere with my sex life. Doc this thing has made my life penniless an horrible that if please we get in touch as you look for a well-wisher to sponsor for my surgery please ,I would really appreciate.
I just want to get treated once and for all because without me treated this hernia may make the poorest for I want to feed my family. I am poor because of this hernia. Even my children go without food because of this. As for I just ask for surgery help/sponsorship and any assistance they be available but mostly surgery. If you can sponsor me to come there or I can connect with a good hospital here in Kenya to contact you so that I can get treated.
