The American Urological Association (AUA) will hold its Annual Scientific Meeting in Chicago, IL, on April 25-30, 2009. The AUA Annual Scientific Meeting is the largest meeting of urologic professionals in the world, and is attended by more than 10,000 urologists and healthcare professionals from around the world. This year, more than 2,000 abstracts will be presented and more than 300 exhibitors will showcase their products and services in the Science and Technology Hall.
Highlights of the meeting include debut of the beta version of the LTN Surgical Simulator and the 2nd Annual Global Perspectives in Urology Forum, featuring international experts discussing urologic case studies from around the world. The 2009 Annual Meeting will also offer new the Primary Care Update in Urology, a special educational opportunity for primary care providers to learn about the latest updates in urologic care.
A record number of abstract presentations will be made in Chicago. More than 2,000 investigators will present their latest research on topics in urology, including prostate, bladder and kidney cancer; benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, or enlarged prostate); and other genitourinary diseases and conditions.
Researchers are also expected to present new information regarding the upcoming AUA guidance documents on prostate-specific antigen testing and the management of renal tumors. Both documents are expected to contribute significantly to clinical care and will be released by the AUA later this year.
"The AUA Annual Meeting is a must-attend event for anyone interested in urological advances," said AUA Secretary Robert C. Flanigan, MD, who helped develop this year's program. "New and exciting programs this year only reinforce that anyone looking for the best and latest in urology should come to Chicago this April. The AUA Annual Meeting also has valuable information for care providers of all specialties."
