... says Dee Standley, 37 from Richmond in London, who was horrified to wake up to the news of Jady Goody's latest prognosis today. She urges every woman to go for their smear tests regularly ... "I thought I had everything, the six figure salary, the sports car and all the trappings that go with it ... then I found out I had cervical cancer. I thought I had lost everything, including my chance to have children, but It changed my life for the better as I re-evaluated my whole life and then unexpectedly found myself pregnant in my mid 30's .. now I am a stay at home mum and have just written my first book".

Dee found she had this terrifying cancer in her early 30's, and had to undergo invasive treatment that was very distressing. Even though she finds herself as a single parent with a young baby, nothing compares to the thought of the cancer truly taking hold. She is now in remission and has regular smear tests every year.
