La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company (Nasdaq:LJPC) announced today that the Independent Data Monitoring Board for the Riquent® Phase 3 ASPEN study has informed the Company that they have completed the first interim efficacy analysis and determined that continuing the study is futile. The Company has decided to stop the study, unblind the data and evaluate the results. The Company expects to provide additional guidance on its strategic options going forward in the near future.
