Days are getting noticeably lighter and whatever the weather, that extra light gives us a boost and helps to make us feel more positive. Longer daylight hours also make us want to do more with our time, instead of just curling up in front of the fire and watching TV. It's a great time to start a new exercise regime. If you're a morning person, set the alarm for half an hour earlier than usual and get out into the fresh air for a brisk walk or work out to a DVD. The light will fool your body into thinking it's later, making it easier to get up and you'll soon get hooked on the buzz you get from the exercise.
If mornings are just not your thing, use those longer evenings to add a little exercise into your week. Regular evening walks are a great way of improving your fitness and exploring the local area. At this time of year the seasons start to change rapidly and even now you will start to see buds forming on trees. We miss so many of life's little miracles and taking time to notice these things can be so rewarding and you will be looking after another of life's little miracles at the same time - your heart.
Let the lighter days lead to a lighter heart, just half an hour a day of moderate intensity exercise; the equivalent of a brisk walk, can help to keep your heart healthy.
