The British Red Cross has been awarded one star status in the Best Companies Accreditation 2009. Of the four categories in the award, the one star grade is for those companies who are deemed 'first class'.

This is the first time the Red Cross has entered the awards and is delighted that the pride, passion and commitment of the society and its employees has been recognised. Most importantly, 90% of the score was generated through feedback from staff about their experiences in the workplace, feelings about their employer and level of job satisfaction.

This is the second acknowledgment of good practice that has been achieved in a matter of months by the Red Cross, whose first aid training department were recently granted ISO9001 accreditation for their sales and service procedures and first aid at work training. The team is also working towards Investors in People.

Rebecca Hamlett, HR Manager for British Red Cross First Aid Training says of the award, "We are pleased that the hard work and commitment of our staff has been recognised with these accreditations. Over recent years we have been looking at ways to enhance the experience of all those who come in to contact with our organisation and make sure that we offer the highest standards in professional customer service and training. The ISO accreditation proves that we are getting this right while maintaining a supportive and fulfilling environment for our staff to work in."

The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.
