From March 2009, Springer will publish Reproductive Medicine and Biology, the official English-language journal of the Japan Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Japan Society of Fertilization and Implantation, and the Japan Society of Andrology. The journal appears four times a year and was previously published by Wiley. It is available in print and on Springer's online information platform SpringerLink.
Reproductive Medicine and Biology publishes original research articles that report new findings and concepts in all aspects of reproductive phenomena in all kinds of mammals. The journal contributes to progress in research in many fields, including andrology, endocrinology, oncology, immunology, genetics, surgery and ethics and social issues. The various subjects are examined at the biological, biochemical, biophysical, molecular biological, analytically morphological and clinical levels. Reports on techniques are also considered, providing a platform for the publication and the exchange of ideas among professionals from multidisciplinary fields.
Editor-in-chief Professor Hiroshi Imai from Kyoto University in Japan is supported by an expert editorial board. Imai said, "Reproductive Medicine and Biology will continue to be active in publishing original and informative research articles that provide new insights in the field. I anticipate that as we begin our association with Springer, many excellent manuscripts from countries around the world will be submitted."
Dr. William F. Curtis, Executive Vice President, Clinical Medicine at Springer, said, "Springer welcomes the opportunity to publish Reproductive Medicine and Biology and to work closely with the three distinguished Japanese medical societies that sponsor the journal. We are proud to bring the excellent and timely research published in the journal to the international community via SpringerLink, thereby giving both authors and readers the benefit of state-of-the-art global communication."
Under Springer, Reproductive Medicine and Biology will make use of a manuscript tracking system that speeds publication of important articles in the field. Articles will be published in Online First™ in full text via SpringerLink. This system ensures immediate distribution of the electronic version of the article before it appears in print. Cross Reference Linking and Alert services will be fully implemented for the journal.
Springer is the second-largest publisher of journals in the science, technology, and medicine (STM) sector and the largest publisher of STM books. The group publishes over 1,700 journals and more than 5,500 new books a year, as well as the largest STM eBook Collection worldwide.
